Finding and starting Motovator Advanced analysis teaser – part 1 Advanced analysis teaser – part 2
Click Start-button
Click Motovator.
If you cannot find Motovator in the list, you will need to go through Programs and find Motovator in there.
Shortly after clicking Motovator, the splash screen with the Motovator logo appears. A few seconds later, when loading is finished, the main Motovator screen is shown... |
Motovator will default create a new track for you to use straight away. To rename it, click Track button. |
Click in the Name field. The keyboard will automatically pop up. |
Enter the new name for the track and click Save button |
Finally, click Select button to choose the track and return to the main screen |
Tip
Start session 5 minutes before you actually enter the track. That way Motovator gets plenty of time to lock the position - and you avoid the stress of getting ready in the last second!
Click the Start Session button |
Motovator starts the GPS Device, which will take a few seconds |
Motovator starts receiving signals from satellites in order to determine position. This can take a few minutes.
To minimize time required to get a position fix, it is recommended to place the device with a clear view of the sky and to keep it as still as possible. |
With the red status message finally gone, Motovator is ready! Click the screen to activate the menu. |
Click the Start button to start the clock. From now on, your performance is measured! |
When you visit a track for the first time, you can just hit the Start Session button and start driving. Motovator will analyze the track throughout your first laps and automatically create a split position on the best straight – so after a few laps, you will start to receive lap and split times!
However, you can also manually define where to receive split times, so you have full control of where and how many. This is easily done whilst going around the track, but can also be accomplished afterwards in Analyze. As long as you start the session, and all your movement is recorded by Motovator, it does not matter whether you set split positions before, during or after – all split times can be calculated afterwards!
Important:
Tips:
When you have reached a point on the track where you would like to get split times, just tap the screen to bring out the menu |
Click the Set Split button.
Motovator will now calculate split and lap times whenever you pass through this position.
You can set as many splits around the track as you wish... |
After passing a split position, your performance is calculated and displayed on the screen. By default, Motovator shows the following information:
Last split time was 0.5 second better than the previously best split time for that section in this particular session.
Way to go! |
Tap the screen to bring up the menu. Click on Stop button. |
Confirm you wish to stop session by clicking the Really? button |
Motovator will now save all session data.
This takes approximately 1 second per 45 seconds of total session time. When all session data is saved, you are returned to the main screen.

Just a quick teaser on what sophisticated analysis features Motovator includes. The below sample show how quickly and efficient you can analyze a single turn on the track:
Click on the trails just before the section (turn) you wish to analyse. You need to aim pretty well and make sure you click in the middle of the trails...
Tip Zoom in before clicking the trails |
Click Replay, Here and wait a few seconds while the session is analyzed and replay of the section prepared... |
The numbered dots are back!
Each of them represent a lap, and you can now replay the new section to find out which line was the fastest. |
The inside line seems to be the quickest way around that corner. And – it only took like 10 seconds to figure it out!
Tip Read the User Guide, where more advanced analysis features such as Replay A to B, Perfect Lap, Lap Comparison, Modification of split positions etc. is covered in detail! |
Another sample, with Motovator running on a PC/laptop in full screen, displaying simultaneous replay of all lines through a section on Jyllandsringen, in a training session for a Danish Touringcar Championship team:
